KU School of Nursing Student Recognition Ceremony
The 2013 University of Kansas School of Nursing Recognition Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

Faculty and Staff Enhancement Program
Built upon five primary components, this program aims to utilize resources to support the professional growth of our employees.

Nurses of the Future

Nurses are critical to how patients perceive their treatment during hospitalization and in other clinical care settings, and they make a significant difference in the lives of thousands of patients and their families every day. To date, the KU School of Nursing has graduated more than 8,000 students since its first class was accepted in 1905. The School takes its responsibility seriously in developing nursing care for the future at all levels of the profession.

Quick facts about the KU School of Nursing:

• KU School of Nursing is the home of the American Nurses Association National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators – with more than 1800 hospitals across the nation participating.
• The School, in cooperation with the School of Health Professions, manages the Silver City Health Center, a nurse-managed safety net clinic that provides primary care for uninsured and underinsured residents of Kansas City, Kan.
• The School is spearheading the Kansas Action Coalition to integrate the IOM’s Future of Nursing Report recommendations to shape health care policy at all levels
• Through a unique partnership with Cerner Corporation, KU has pioneered a live clinical health information system in the learning environment for nursing students.

Notice of Re-Accreditation

The KU School of Nursing is seeking re-accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. CCNE will be making a site visit to the School of Nursing on October 17-19, 2012. An autonomous arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, CCNE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to accredit undergraduate and graduate degree programs in nursing.

As part of this process, individuals connected to the School’s educational mission, including current students, alumnae, as well as KU Medical Center faculty and staff, are invited to submit comments about our educational programs, students, and graduates to CCNE.  Provided to the site visitors only, these letters are confidential and are not shared with the School. Send letters by September 17, 2012, to: Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle NW, Suite 530, Washington, D.C., 20036-1120.
